The Pan African Congress (PAC) has welcomed the imminent release of its liberation struggle hero Kenny Motsamai. He is expected to be released from Boksburg prison on day parole on Monday morning.
Motsamai has been in prison since his arrest and sentencing to life imprisonment for his part on an Azanian People’s Liberation Army mission to rob a supermarket in Rustenburg in 1989. He and three others killed a traffic officer who witnessed the armed robbery.
Motsamai previously refused to be released arguing that his parole conditions were unreasonable.
“We do not have special treatment for anyone; however we welcome him as a senior cadre of the party. He will definitely take part in the campaigns, door to door for the local government elections, we will involve him in the PAC programme,” the PAC’s Secretary-General Narius Moloto said.
