Masina incapable of leading Ekurhuleni: Cachalia

The Democratic Alliance (DA) Ekurhuleni Mayoral Candidate Ghaleb Cachalia says his African National Congress (ANC) competitor Mzwandile Masina neither has the skills nor the temperament to resolve the unemployment crisis in the city.

Following his announcement as mayoral candidate, Masina termed unemployment levels in Ekurhuleni as unacceptably high. He has since vowed to tackle the scourge.

Cachalia and the DA’s Shadow Minister for Trade and Industry, Geordin Hill-Lewis, briefed the media at the Edevale Civic Centre on Tuesday on their view of Masina. They say Masina’s record as Deputy Trade and Industry Minister has also showed him to be an ineffective leader.

Cachalia further alleges that Masina got the nod because he’s President Jacob Zuma’s devotee.

“It is our civic duty and my civic duty to address all the issues pertinent to the residents and citizens of Ekurhuleni. In that regard, it would be remiss of me not to point out the shortcomings of a candidate who’s put forward to be ostensibly the saviour of Ekurhuleni, who in my opinion, and which data supports, shows that he’s not,” adds Cachalia.
