A meeting by the African National Congress’ (ANC) National Working Committee over the Nkandla saga is continuing in Cape Town. The meeting comes amid growing calls from within and outside the ANC for President Jacob Zuma to resign.
The meeting is open to the ruling party’s NEC members.
The Constitutional Court has found that Zuma violated the constitution when he failed to implement the Public Protector’s remedial action on upgrades to Nkandla.
Meanwhile, President Zuma has called on eligible voters to take advantage of the last voter registration drive this weekend. The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has announced the 9th and 10th as voter registration days for the upcoming municipal elections.
The President stressed the importance of voting during a Drought Relief Imbizo in Melmoth on Sunday.
“There are things we can make happen with the vote. The vote is very important and it’s your power and your voice. We have a voter apathy problem as blacks; we take for granted the importance of voting. I’m encouraging you to register to vote this Saturday as it is the last voter registration drive so that you will be able to vote for the party of your choice.”
