Ximoko Party (XP)

PARTY PROFILE
The Ximoko Party was formed in 1998.

The party came about after the Ximoko Progressive Party and Ximoko Democratic Party were dissolved. The vision of the party is premised on the idea of fighting for the rights and aspirations of all South Africans, engendering respect for life, the promotion of democratic freedom, the reduction of political power and discrimination, preventing the possibility of a one party state and promoting a peaceful South Africa.

PARTY LEADERSHIP
The party president is Mackson Rikhotso.

ELECTION BACKGROUND
The party participated in the 1999 provincial elections in Limpopo and managed to get approximately 18 000 votes. This did not translate into any representation within the Limpopo legislature and Gauteng. The party managed to capture 15 seats in the Mopani and Vhembe district municipalities after the 2000 local government elections.
