ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba says the Democratic Alliance (DA) can be assured that it will not receive any support from the party during the motion of no confidence against City of Tshwane Mayor Cilliers Brink.
The African National Congress’ (ANC) motion of no confidence is set to be tabled next week Thursday.
Over the weekend, Mashaba announced that they have severed ties with the DA in Tshwane.
He says the move was influenced by the DA’s dishonesty when it wanted to work with the ANC.
Mashaba says, “ActionSA will either vote with the ANC for the removal of this Mayor, in the event that in the next two weeks, we manage to agree with the ANC on the type of government that can serve the people of South Africa. Serve with servant leadership and fight corruption.”
“In the event of our failure to reach an agreement with the ANC, ActionSA is not going to defend the Mayor of the City of Tshwane. We will just fold our hands and it’s up to the DA to get the votes to protect themselves,” he adds.
The DA Caucus in Tshwane says if ActionSA forms a coalition with the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in the city, it will cause significant instability.
DA Caucus spokesperson Kwena Moloto says, “The same EFF that ActionSA is attempting to bring into government or the EFF that cases have been opened against because they assaulted councillors in the councillor chambers, there’s videos of this, the same EFF whose caucus leader just a month ago said that he wants the blood of an Afrikaner. And so, no way can ActionSA argue that this will bring stability to the municipality.” –Reporting by Diteboho Ntimane.
