Matsobane Mokonyane is an independent candidate from Limpopo who says people from the rural parts of his province are tired of living without water and he is prepared to deliver this basic service to them should he secure a seat in the legislature.

Mokonyane says in order to combat crime in the country all gun shops should be closed. He adds that bringing back the death penalty will help stop criminals from acquiring illegal firearms

An IEC official who has been charged with contravention of the Electoral Act will today appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrates' Court.

Musawenkosi Mnikathi, an IEC area manager in uMsunduzi during the May 29th general elections, is accused of moving voting materials without a police escort as required.

The case was opened by the MK Party.

The Sol Plaatje Municipality in Kimberley in the Northern Cape has called on political parties to remove their elections posters following May's polls or face a fine.

It's been more than a month since the elections were concluded and not all parties have removed all their election material.
