Thanasagren Moodley is a comedian and independent candidate vying for a seat in the KwaZulu-Natal legislature. He says he is pursuing a pro-Indian agenda.

Moodley says the reason he went for independent leadership is because he wants to put new policies and new ideas into place in the country. He adds that having been an activist for most of his life, he began toying with the idea of formally entering politics due to issues affecting the Indian community.

An IEC official who has been charged with contravention of the Electoral Act will today appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrates' Court.

Musawenkosi Mnikathi, an IEC area manager in uMsunduzi during the May 29th general elections, is accused of moving voting materials without a police escort as required.

The case was opened by the MK Party.

The Sol Plaatje Municipality in Kimberley in the Northern Cape has called on political parties to remove their elections posters following May's polls or face a fine.

It's been more than a month since the elections were concluded and not all parties have removed all their election material.
