{"id":964088,"date":"2024-07-03T09:46:03","date_gmt":"2024-07-03T09:46:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/dm-simulator-v2\/?p=964088"},"modified":"2024-07-03T09:46:03","modified_gmt":"2024-07-03T09:46:03","slug":"court-interdicts-impala-bafokeng-platinum-mine-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elections.sabc.co.za\/elections2024\/court-interdicts-impala-bafokeng-platinum-mine-strike\/","title":{"rendered":"Court interdicts Impala Bafokeng Platinum Mine strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Calm has returned at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sabcnews.com\/sabcnews\/impala-platinum-workers-vow-not-to-return-to-work-want-demands-met\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Impala Bafokeng Platinum mine<\/a> in Rustenburg after the mine obtained a court interdict to stop workers from continuing with their protest.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, employees embarked on a strike demanding shares from the mine and calling for permanent appointments.<\/p>\n<p>Disgruntled workers voiced their discontent against the employer and the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM).<\/p>\n<p>One worker says, &#8221;I want shares that were stolen by the NUM, so we took a decision to start a committee because of the shares that were stolen.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Another worker adds: &#8220;We want to be employed permanently by the mine, and we no longer want to be represented by NUM.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Bashiga ba Phafane Traditional Council&#8217;s Kgosi Masubela Mabjaia says they had to intervene following the violence associated with the strike.<\/p>\n<p>&#8221;Around 1 a.m., in the middle of the night, we heard the sounds of guns and helicopters.
