{"id":964637,"date":"2024-07-07T13:11:58","date_gmt":"2024-07-07T13:11:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/dm-simulator-v2\/?p=964637"},"modified":"2024-07-07T13:11:58","modified_gmt":"2024-07-07T13:11:58","slug":"two-suspects-nabbed-for-rape-and-murder-of-17-year-old-in-umlazi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elections.sabc.co.za\/elections2024\/two-suspects-nabbed-for-rape-and-murder-of-17-year-old-in-umlazi\/","title":{"rendered":"Two suspects nabbed for rape and murder of 17-year-old in Umlazi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two suspects aged 26 and 39 have been arrested for rape, murder and robbery in Umlazi, south of Durban.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects were arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning by detectives from the Provincial Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.<\/p>\n<p>It is alleged that the suspects in question broke into the house of resident Mondli Ngcobo on May 28. His 17-year-old daughter Aphiwe Ngcobo was inside the house at the time.<\/p>\n<p>It is alleged that on the day of the incident, Ngcobo received a call from his neighbour informing him that they spotted an unknown person wearing a balaclava leaving his home with a TV.<\/p>\n<p>Ngcobo, who was at work at the time, asked the neighbour to investigate further as his daughter was in the house.<\/p>\n<p>According to the police, the neighbour went to the house and discovered Aphiwe&#8217;s body with her hands tied at the back and with multiple stab wounds.<\/p>\n<p>Police were then summoned to the house and as they processed the scene, they discovered that the deceased was also raped.<\/p>\n<p>A case docket of murder, rape and robbery was registered and later handed over to the Provincial FCS Serial Electronic Crime Investigation Unit (SECI) for investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/sapsKZN?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">#sapsKZN<\/a> In the early hours of Sunday morning 06\/07, detectives from the Provincial Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit arrested two suspects at Malukazi and Clermont for a case of rape and murder which took place on 28\/05. The investigators continue working throughout the day and night and in the early hours of Sunday, July 7 they arrested a second suspect 39 who is a parolee in the KwaShembe area in Clermont, for rape and murder.
