By now parents would have gone to schools weeks prior, sleeping at the schools. And with this programme, we eliminated all of that. The system was launched in 2015, it began slowly with some teething challenges. But I’m confident to say that the system is smooth,” Chiloane explains.

2025 online admissions for Grade 1 and 8 in Gauteng begin 11 July

Walk-in centres

In an effort to bridge the digital divide, 80 decentralised walk-in centres will be opened across the province.

The online application process was launched in 2015 and has been the source of unhappiness among some parents in the past. But the provincial education department says it has worked hard to improve the system.

Gauteng Department of Education HoD, Rufus Mmutlana says, “We are launching this particular admission process with pride given the fact that we have improved the system. This is the ninth year that the system is in place and every year we ensure that we are on a continuous process of improving the system, increasing its capacity and ensuring that it doesn’t crash. And I can confirm that this particular system for 2024 in preparing for 2025 can take multiple entries without fail and our parents will have access to it all the time.”

Meanwhile, the department has set a target of building more than 15 schools per year to address overcrowding in schools. It has also noted the Public Protector’s report on the construction of the Mayibuye school. The report found the project cost overruns among others.

Gauteng education’s online application process for the 2025 academic year will go live on Thursday.

[217
977,978
post-964990","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-south-africa","tag-gauteng-department-of-education","tag-online-application-process-for-the-2025-academic-year
["GET
