{"id":965117,"date":"2024-07-10T12:21:34","date_gmt":"2024-07-10T12:21:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/dm-simulator-v2\/?p=965117"},"modified":"2024-07-10T12:21:34","modified_gmt":"2024-07-10T12:21:34","slug":"makhadzi-denies-getting-financial-support-from-dsac","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elections.sabc.co.za\/elections2024\/makhadzi-denies-getting-financial-support-from-dsac\/","title":{"rendered":"Makhadzi denies getting financial support from Arts, Culture Dept"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BET Award-winning singer Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona popularly known as Makhadzi has refuted the Sport, Arts and Culture Department&#8217;s claim that it has supported her financially for the past 14 months.<\/p>\n<p>This is after the department received backlash from the public for not supporting the singer on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sabcnews.com\/sabcnews\/makhadzis-home-village-proud-she-won-a-bet-award\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">her recent trip to the BET Awards in the US.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In its defence, the department says it had booked the singer for various national engagements and paid her as much as 230 000.<\/p>\n<p>Makhadzi argues that she only received payment for the services she rendered.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The controversy started after an interview in which Makhadzi revealed that she didn&#8217;t receive any support from the department on her trip to the US. However, the department says in a statement that it has supported the singer by booking her for various national events. The BET award-winning singer says the department&#8217;s statement is misleading. She says it creates the impression that she received funding.
