Orlando Pirates have confirmed the passing of former senior administrator at the football club Stanley “Screamer” Tshabalala.<\/p>\n
The 75-year-old Tshabalala died earlier on Thursday afternoon in hospital after he succumbed to injuries he suffered when he was shot by intruders during a break-in at his house in March this year.<\/a> Tshabalala was close friend to Pirates and Premier soccer League chairman Irvin Khoza.<\/p>\n Tshabalala was born in Orlando East, Soweto in 1949. He was a founder member of Kaizer Chiefs in 1970.<\/p>\n He also coached Mamelodi Sundowns in the 1980’s making the club popular with it’s unique style of play.<\/p>\n Tshabalala was the first coach to lead Bafana Bafana in an official FIFA match after South Africa’s readmission into international football back in 1992.<\/p>\n He also worked for Chiefs as technical director, before joining their arch rivals Pirates.<\/p>\n Tshabalala also worked for the South African Football Association as team manager.<\/p>\n In his long career in football Tshabalala served as team manager, technical director, and also contributed immensely to the development of football in South Africa.<\/p>\n VIDEO | Sport | Soccer legend Stanley ‘Screamer’ Tshabalala has passed on:<\/strong><\/p>\n
