Citizens have just a week to inspect the voters\u2019 roll and lodge objections as to the inclusion or exclusion of a voter in it.<\/p>\n

This forms part of the elections timetable<\/a> published last week which specifies activities and cut-off dates for eligible voters and those intending to contest the 2024 national and provincial elections.<\/p>\n

IEC Chief Electoral Officer Sy Mamabolo says the provisional voters\u2019 roll has been published for inspection on Monday at all offices of the Commission and objections must be received on or before the 4th March for consideration, investigation and determination by the Commission by 11 March 2024.<\/p>\n

He says such objections to the voters\u2019 roll are governed by the law.<\/p>\n

Mamabolo says electronic copies of the certified voters\u2019 roll will be made available to contestants and a printed copy will be prepared for use in voting stations on Election Day.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth the procedural as well as the substantive requirements of Section 15 of the Electoral Act must be satisfied when lodging an objection. The pertinent aspects in this regard, include outlining the relief sought and establishing the basis for such relief as well as serving the objection on the person against whom the objection is raised. Following the determination of voters\u2019 roll objections, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) will certify the voters\u2019 roll on 12 March 2024.\u201d<\/p>\n
