The African National Congress (ANC)<\/a> has written to the IEC to request that the Commission investigate the circumstances that led to the unauthorized disclosure of the party\u2019s candidates lists.<\/p>\n

In a statement written by ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula, the party says it views the unauthorised disclosure of personal information as a contravention of the Protection of Personal Information Act.<\/p>\n

Mbalula further expressed shock at finding copies of the party\u2019s National-to-National and Gauteng Regional lists on social media.<\/p>\n

The deadline for political parties to submit their lists, deposits and signatures was yesterday.<\/p>\n

According to the IEC\u2019s timetable, provisional lists of candidates will be published for inspection on 26 and 27 of March.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the ANC says its lists of national and provincial legislature candidates may include some of those implicated in the State Capture Commission report.<\/p>\n

ANC national spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri has confirmed that members who have been cleared by the party\u2019s internal processes are included in its lists.<\/p>\n

The ANC will only make public its candidates lists on Monday.<\/p>\n
