{"id":967553,"date":"2024-05-30T14:44:58","date_gmt":"2024-05-30T14:44:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/dm-simulator-v2\/?p=967553"},"modified":"2024-05-30T14:44:58","modified_gmt":"2024-05-30T14:44:58","slug":"north-west-anc-distances-itself-from-stabbing-incident-at-polls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elections.sabc.co.za\/elections2024\/north-west-anc-distances-itself-from-stabbing-incident-at-polls\/","title":{"rendered":"North West ANC distances itself from stabbing incident at polls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"rt-reading-time\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading Time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\">&lt; 1<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minute<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Electoral Commission (IEC) in the North West says a number of election irregularities in the province have been referred to the South African Police Services for investigation.<\/p>\n<p>In Wolmaranstad, a case was opened after a person, whose name did not appear on the voter\u2019s roll was allegedly allowed to vote.<\/p>\n<p>In Itsoseng, one IEC official allegedly stabbed another.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sabcnews.com\/sabcnews\/anc-working-to-fix-challenges-in-north-west-ramaphosa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">African National Congress (ANC) in the North West<\/a> has denied its involvement relating to any incident in which one of its party agents stabbed another agent.<\/p>\n<p>Provincial police spokesperson Sabata Mokgwabane confirmed this, saying a case of contravention of the Electoral Act was opened at Bedwang Police Station after a party agent allegedly attempted to influence a person to vote for a particular political party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe docket will be placed before prosecution today (Thursday).
