{"id":967563,"date":"2024-05-30T16:16:35","date_gmt":"2024-05-30T16:16:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/dm-simulator-v2\/?p=967563"},"modified":"2024-05-30T16:16:35","modified_gmt":"2024-05-30T16:16:35","slug":"frustration-mounts-for-those-excluded-from-special-voting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elections.sabc.co.za\/elections2024\/frustration-mounts-for-those-excluded-from-special-voting\/","title":{"rendered":"Frustration mounts for those excluded from special voting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"rt-reading-time\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading Time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\">2<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minutes<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Some of the people who were not able to vote during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sabcnews.com\/sabcnews\/limpopo-iec-in-a-scramble-to-finalise-home-visits-for-special-voters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">special vote<\/a> on Monday and Tuesday say that they feel aggrieved because they have not been able to exercise their rights.<\/p>\n<p>Several people in the Vhembe District of Limpopo who applied for home visits claim that IEC officials did not fulfil their mandate to visit their homes.<\/p>\n<p>Limpopo had over 96 000 people who applied for home visits ahead of this year\u2019s special vote. Vhembe District accounted for the majority of the applications.<\/p>\n<p>The IEC in Limpopo says some people who applied for home visits were not available at their homes when its officials visited them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt didn\u2019t sit well with me; I was expecting people to come so I can vote. I never saw anyone visiting. As a citizen it didn\u2019t sit well with me, I was intending to vote,\u201d laments an aggrieved citizen Joyce Rangolo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey came to register me for special voting. They said they will visit me so I can vote, but they never came during the special voting period. If people were getting me, that means I wouldn\u2019t have got it, I would starve with my children,\u201d says an aggrieved citizen Valery Mbulaheni.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we visit you and you are not there. We are unable to because our plan works in such a way that between this time and this time, we will be at this particular home.
