The party&#8217;s support dropped to below 35% in the province.<\/p>\n<p>Lesufi was speaking at the Gauteng Results Operation Centre in Alberton on Gauteng&#8217;s East Rand where <a href=\"https:\/\/ow.ly\/nrsP50S5mBN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">99% of votes have been counted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lesufi says the results could have been worse for the ANC.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I really don&#8217;t believe that traditionally the ANC has lost these elections. What we have is a message that has been delivered by our voters at our doorstep. It&#8217;s up to us to do with that message. Traditionally, the ANC voters have made a decision. They have left the message at our door step. We have to go read those messages, decipher those messages and use our thinking capabilities to determine the way forward. It&#8217;s something I assume the national leadership of the ANC would do.
