{"id":968007,"date":"2024-06-12T06:04:53","date_gmt":"2024-06-12T06:04:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/dm-simulator-v2\/?p=968007"},"modified":"2024-06-12T06:04:53","modified_gmt":"2024-06-12T06:04:53","slug":"proposed-gnu-to-determine-future-course-of-sa-business-sacci","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elections.sabc.co.za\/elections2024\/proposed-gnu-to-determine-future-course-of-sa-business-sacci\/","title":{"rendered":"Proposed GNU to determine future course of SA business: SACCI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"rt-reading-time\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading Time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\">2<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minutes<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry\u2019s Business Confidence (SACCI) says the formation of the African National Congress (ANC)-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sabcnews.com\/sabcnews\/parties-face-tight-deadline-in-race-to-form-gnu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">proposed Government of National Unity<\/a> (GNU) will largely determine the future course of the business.<\/p>\n<p>The SACCI\u2019s newly released Business Confidence Index shows that sentiment among business managers fell further in May.<\/p>\n<p>This as the outcome of the recent elections weighs on investor confidence.\u00a0The index fell by 1.1 points in May to 107.8 points from 108.9 in April.\u00a0This shows a decline of 6.9 points over the two months.<\/p>\n<p>A decline in overseas tourist numbers and lower import volumes largely drove the lower sentiment among business managers.<\/p>\n<p>The Chamber\u2019s economist Richard Downing says, \u201cRecent national and provincial elections had a notable effect on the business conference during April and May 24. The BCI dev by 5.8 index points in April and further on to 107.8 in May. It\u2019s a decline of 6.9 index points over the two months.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe formation of the new government will to a large extent determine the future course of business confidence and the other business climate will be influenced in the short term that\u2019s month to month.
