{"id":968072,"date":"2024-06-13T19:41:48","date_gmt":"2024-06-13T19:41:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/dm-simulator-v2\/?p=968072"},"modified":"2024-06-13T19:41:48","modified_gmt":"2024-06-13T19:41:48","slug":"electorate-want-political-parties-to-work-together-mbalula","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elections.sabc.co.za\/elections2024\/electorate-want-political-parties-to-work-together-mbalula\/","title":{"rendered":"Electorate want political parties to work together: Mbalula"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"rt-reading-time\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading Time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\">&lt; 1<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minute<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The ANC has not disclosed the parties they will form a Government of National Unity (GNU) ahead of the first sitting of the 7th Parliament on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula briefed the media following a special ANC NEC meeting at the Cape Sun Hotel in Cape Town.<\/p>\n<p>The party failed to secure an outright majority in the 2024 general elections and resolved to form a Government of National Unity with other political parties.<\/p>\n<p>Mbalula says the electorate want political parties to work together.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe that the majority of political parties in our country agree that this moment requires working together, not getting into it like a melting pot, but with set principles for others which are not negotiable. But non the less there is importance of working together in moving the country forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mbalula says the Government of National Unity needs to be defined constitutionally.<\/p>\n<p>He adds that accountability is essential within the GNU.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSouth Africa is important to all of us.
