{"id":968131,"date":"2024-06-16T09:13:35","date_gmt":"2024-06-16T09:13:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/dm-simulator-v2\/?p=968131"},"modified":"2024-06-16T09:13:35","modified_gmt":"2024-06-16T09:13:35","slug":"mk-party-atm-file-court-papers-for-re-run-of-elections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elections.sabc.co.za\/elections2024\/mk-party-atm-file-court-papers-for-re-run-of-elections\/","title":{"rendered":"MK Party, ATM file court papers for re-run of elections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"rt-reading-time\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading Time:\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"rt-time\">2<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minutes<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The newly-formed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sabcnews.com\/sabcnews\/mk-members-ready-to-be-sworn-in-at-various-provincial-legislatures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">uMkhonto weSizwe (MK)<\/a>\u00a0Party has turned to the Electoral Court seeking an order declaring the 2024 General Elections were not free and fair, and are therefore invalid.<\/p>\n<p>The party also seeks, among others, an order from the court directing the President to call for new elections to be held.<\/p>\n<p>The party, which was noticeably absent from the first sitting of the National Assembly, is now the third biggest political party in the country.<\/p>\n<p>In papers filed, the party contends that had the elections been conducted in a free and fair manner, the MK Party \u201cin all likelihood had won\u201d.
