{"id":968260,"date":"2024-06-30T14:36:12","date_gmt":"2024-06-30T14:36:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/dm-simulator-v2\/?p=968260"},"modified":"2024-06-30T14:36:12","modified_gmt":"2024-06-30T14:36:12","slug":"ramaphosa-to-announce-new-national-executive-on-sunday-night","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elections.sabc.co.za\/elections2024\/ramaphosa-to-announce-new-national-executive-on-sunday-night\/","title":{"rendered":"Ramaphosa to announce new National Executive on Sunday night"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"rt-reading-time\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading Time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\">3<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minutes<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to announce members of his new National Executive this evening.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This comes nearly <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">over<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> two weeks after <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sabcnews.com\/sabcnews\/live-13\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Ramaphosa<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> was sworn into office for a second term following the May 29 elections and his elections by members of the National Assembly on June 14.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">According to the Presidency: \u201cThe new National Executive will constitute the 7th Democratic Administration as a Government of National Unity comprising a diversity of political parties.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The announcement will be broadcast live at <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">9pm<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Central African Time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">PRESIDENT RAMAPHOSA TO ANNOUNCE NEW NATIONAL EXECUTIVE<\/p>\n<p>President Cyril Ramaphosa will announce a new National Executive this evening, 30 June 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement \u2013 which will be in the form of a televised address to the nation \u2013 follows the inauguration of President\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Presidency   (@PresidencyZA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PresidencyZA\/status\/1807413903548088487?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">June 30, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eqHRBnddD00?si=197_GBVY_UVUPiqx\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Meanwhile, political analyst Dr Levy Ndou says <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">it is crucial for parties to accept<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> and support Ramaphosa\u2019s decisions on the Cabinet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cWhatever decision he (Ramaphosa) takes should be respected by everyone. The minute you decide to be a participant in the Government of National Unity does not necessarily mean that the Constitution has to be thrown away. So the powers <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">that were<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> given to this individual is that he should exercise his prerogative in appointing cabinet ministers and because you respect the Constitution, that exactly what one would expect from everyone who is part of the GNU,\u201d he says.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">However, the Citizen\u2019s Forum has rejected the notion that the proposal to form a Government of National Unity represents the <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">will of the people<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Former MP and member of the Citizen Forum Dennis Bloem says, \u201cPolitical parties must stop spreading the lie that the people of this country have said they must start working together. It is a blue lie. At no stage did the voters say that to them. This is a betrayal of the votes for the people and <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">a betrayal of<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> the people of South Africa.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He adds, \u201cDuring the elections, individual political parties campaigned <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">on their own<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> to garner support. The ANC got 40% of the votes. We cannot understand why the ANC cannot <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">put up<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> a majority government. The DA and small opposition parties are only interested in going into this government of national unity to get ministerial positions.
