The disciplinary hearing against former African National Congress (ANC) President Jacob Zuma is set to commence today.
Initially scheduled for earlier this year, the hearing was postponed by the ANC to make way for the 29 May elections.
Zuma faces accusations of violating rule 25 of the ANC constitution. The hearing, which aims to terminate his ANC membership, will take place virtually.
This follows Zuma’s announcement in December that he would no longer campaign for the ANC in the 2024 elections but would endorse the newly formed uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK). This led to his suspension by the party in January.
Despite this, Zuma, now leading the MK, stated that he will always remain a member of the ANC.
