Mapisa-Nqakula back in court for corruption case

Former National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula is expected to appear before the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court today in a corruption case.

It is expected to be a brief appearance as the State is expected to serve an indictment and enroll Mapisa-Nqakula’s matter at the High Court.

During her last appearance in June, the State indicated that it would not be adding another accused in the matter.

Mapisa-Nqakula is accused of soliciting about R4-million in bribes from a contractor during her tenure as defence minister.

She faces 12 counts of corruption and one of money laundering.
