Shebe-Maburna’s assault case postponed due to his ill health

The plea and trial case of Lehlogonolo Chauke, popularly known as Shebe-Maburna, has been postponed to next week at the Lebowakgomo Regional Court in Limpopo.

The matter was delayed due to Chauke’s ill health.

Chauke is facing charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and attempted murder.

He allegedly stabbed two people in separate incidents in Lebowakgomo in 2022.

Shebe was arrested in April 2023 and spent four months in jail before being released on bail in July 2023.

The artist was represented by his lawyer in court as he could not make it due to injuries sustained in an accident last month.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Spokesperson, Mashudu Malabi-Dzangi, says the matter was postponed to allow the defence to furnish the court with medical records of the accused.

“The accused Lehlogonolo Chauke known as Shebeshxt has appeared in absentia at the Lebowakgomo regional court for pretrial on account of attempted murder. The accused could not attend court proceedings due to ill health. The court postponed that matter to 19 July 2024 to enable him to provide medical certificates.”

Culpable homicide

Meanwhile, the musician is also being investigated in a culpable homicide case.

This follows the deadly car crash he was involved in last month that claimed the life of his eight-year-old daughter.

The accident happened along the R37 road outside Polokwane.

He was hospitalised after sustaining serious injuries and has since been discharged two weeks ago.
